Moon as a Torch in the Forest

Armed with his birth-right, the moon, the former fool travels back down into the  underworld...
 
My end goal in my art practise has always been about creating "narrative" drawings and paintings. As a student of art and art history, as a gallery haunter, and as an artist I find pictures comprised of figures in scenes in almost any formulation the most compelling.
 
In this particular "Fool" series of multi-media pieces I am exploring purely imaginative territory. In this portion of the story the explorer protagonist is travelling back into the underworld of his birth armed with the moon as a torch. This short series of paintings re-works the Persephone myth.
 
The original of this piece was produced with gouache paint, coloured pencil, artist grade markers and artist grade crayons. Please refer to my instagram for more insight into the background and inspiration to this and other pieces.
